Scenery, South Australia
South Australia ... dry and arid, with Adelaide as the driest capital city in Australia. Yet lush and green in places ... the Barossa Valley being home to some of the finest wines in the world. South Australia, Flinders Ranges and Lake Eyre. South Australia, Barossa Valley and Mt Gambier. South Australia, fascinating land of contrasts.

Umpherston Sink hole, Mt Gambier, South Australia. This was once a cave formed through the dissolution of limestone.
The sinkhole was formed when the roof of the cave collapsed and formed the new floor of the cave. In 1886 it was beautified by James Umpherston. It is now open to the public. The gardens are floodlit at night.

Stone walls between Swan Reach and the Barossa Valley, South Australia.
It took two men a hard day's work to build six feet of wall. Just think of the hours of back breaking work in this picture alone. And there are miles upon miles of these walls, in both South Australia and western Victoria.
