Aussie Stories - telling about Australia in words and pictures

Joe Mortelliti's life long love, from when he was first given a Brownie camera as a boy, was photography. It was the focus of his work life for many years. He loved to travel with his wife Marion to as many parts of Australia as he could. He had the ability to 'see' the beauty of our land in such a way that he could photograph it for the delight of others. These photos are a legacy that he has left us. Used by permission and with appreciation.

The lush ferns of this area are as beautiful as any of those in the Otway Ranges. The morning light filtering through the trees and the lush ferns contrasting against the trees trunks are simply stunning. January 2005.

Three thousand people, and this is all that is left. Shows that the environment is not at all fragile and is quite capable of regenerating over a relatively short time.

Dawson City, on the Haunted Stream, alpine Victoria, Australia. After the grisly murder of Ballarat Harry whose body parts were floated down the river, locals named the river the Haunted Stream as his ghost was said to frequent the area. We camped here with friends for New Year’s Eve 2004, but he did not make an appearance. January 2005.
